Interested in making more money? Making the world a better place? The way to do both of these is adding more value to more people. Add 1% more value each day and then at the end of 70 days you'll be providing double the value! Feel free to do the math.
Simple and not too difficult, but it definitely requires effort. Here's a list to get you started. Choose 1 for today and see what happens.
17 Ways You Can Add Incredible Value Now
(I put some names of people or companies who add value in this particular way next to some of the items on the list. Feel free to add by commenting below.)
1. Greet people with more warmth and enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is highly contagious and puts people in a better mood. My grandmother adds value to my life every time I talk to her. It's like she thinks talking to me is winning the lottery.
2. Add value through your social media. (Follow @speak2all @cuecos and @merrybubbles.)
3. Make your workspace beautiful, personalized and organized. (My bff Sally at Metrics, Inc. has an incredible office. It's organized and full of art (her quilts hanging on the wall and it says "Sally" all over.)
4. A big smile. (I like Pamela Rhoades' of Mt. Pleasant Acupuncture.) Smiling actually raises the energy level of the smiler and the people who see someone smile. That's a scientific fact.
5. Use the best ingredients. My mom does this. So does Heirloom Eats. And Larabars!
6. Answer email with a phone call. Much higher quality of communication!!!!
7. Say the other person's name, correctly whenever possible. (My bro-in-law, Craig, is AMAZING at this!)
8. Introduce people you know to each other. (Jon Stroud of Keller Williams does this well! He's also good about hand-written notes!)
9. Make it by hand. (Lisa Call)
10. Offer gift wrap. (Birchbox!)
11. Be funny. (Steven Barksdale with Comcast always makes me laugh.)
12. Call someone just to say "hello". (This can take less than 5 minutes, just let the person know as soon as they answer that it's a quickie.)
13. Get a custom-designed environmentally-friendly business card. (I love mine from Moo!)
14. Teach their kids the value of beauty, discipline and teamwork. (Youth Orchestra of the Lowcountry.)
15. Listen attentively. Like you're hearing the final words of your most treasured mentor. (Pat of Pat Eardley HR Advisors does this well.)
16. Choose your clothes with even more care. (Carole Campbell of geriatic care company, Coverage Complete is always dressed beautifully.)
17. Make their lives easier in some way. (Nancy Waldek of Taste & Savor makes healthy cooking easy!)
